The autors of articles in this collection seek to answer the fallowing questions: how to use and design appropriate tools which facilitate research and exploration of the data obtained, among others, in the course of educational processes, as well as how to use the existing support tools and how to design now ones to meet the needs of our times.

The first part of monography contains articles whose authors discuss the possibility of a more effective data analysis. There is no doubt that the use of AI techniques facilitates viable conclusions, and thus may be employed in subsequent studies and work aimed at developing new programmes.

Part two, "Empirical studies on on-line and off-line education", provides a thorough description and results of serveys carried out with the use of the Internet. Such studies no longer seem to be domain of computer scientists only, as shown in the article entitled "The Internet in the survey execution process". Its autor has made use of the splendid ebadania application to both design and conduct surveys which are typical of sociology.

Part three, "Design and implementation of the e-learning systems and tools supporting e-learning" is the most comprehensive part of this monograph. the supporting tools in question are not limited to the applications directly used for a more effective learning, such as, for example, the educational platform which is more convenient for end users, and especially for course designers and tutors. they also cover the entire education-related infrastructure, such as school registers equipped not only with a learning progress control module, but also with a teacher - parent communication module, payment management module, and the like. In addition, the Servey application describes in detail in "Test and surveys generator" was developed to satisfy the needs to control students learning progress and to survey respondents.

the final part of this publication is intended to be visionary in nature. It combines certain elements of educational reality with certain aspects of future changes. The authors share their vision of a virtual univesity campus, as well as the rapidly expanding virtual laboratory.
